THOMAS CELEBRATES
his 37th birthday!

Modern Talking's singer turned 37 on the 1st of March. Thomas Anders
has showed the world that he is capable of doing everything, something
his solo career proved.
Thomas Anders' real name is actually Bernd Weidung, but he changed his
name when he got involved with international music. But long before that
he produced his own music in German which he performed together with different
bands in his hometown, Münstermaifeld. He was the second oldest child
in the family, he has an older brother and a younger sister, and he early
discovered the art of singing. Only eight years old he won a song contest
in Koblenz, but few knew that he would become one of the world's most famous
singers.
Modern Talking
When Thomas was eighteen years old, his record company put him in contact
with a young producer named Dieter Bohlen. Dieter wrote and composed a
couple of songs for Thomas, and with these Thomas hit the German charts.
The summer of '84 the two guys took a holiday, Dieter went to Mallorca
and Thomas to Gran Canaria. Here he got engaded with his girlfriend Nora
Isabell Balling. When they all got back, Dieter and Thomas agreed to form
a duo and they called themselves Modernes Gespräche. They soon found
out that they had to have a more international image, so they changed it
to Modern Talking. Thomas Anders became a big star together with Dieter
Bohlen, but in 1987 they broke up.
His solo career
After Modern Talking, Thomas wanted to show the world that he could stand
on his own legs and he went solo. In eight years he produced five albums
and lots of singles. These records were also released in U.S.A, but they
never entered the charts there. In Germany and the rest of Europe he entered
the charts and stayed there. He bought himself a house in Koblenz, and
later on an appartment in Los Angeles.
Back again with Dieter
In 1997, Thomas and Dieter agreed to come back with Modern Talking. They
both ended their solo careers, and started to work full time with new material
for Modern Talking. On the two latest albums, Thomas has written and composed
some songs on his own. This shows that he has a great talent when it comes
to music, we hope that Dieter and Thomas can produce good music for Modern
